It looks like the fiscal year for sudo room ends in November instead of<br>
December. I'm inducing this from scant information available but will try<br>
to verify with the IRS tomorrow (their phone lines are pretty jammed<br>
today). This means that, for the tax forms that we file the deadline is<br>
15th of April instead of 15th of May. Again, I will try to verify this.<br>
<br>
It seems that Max Klein actually did file taxes before 15th of April last<br>
year, so we're good.<br>

Sudo has paid the second invoice for utilities and insurance for January.<br>

The first invoice is for insurance from January-July. Does this mean we need to pay 2x insurance for January?<br>

As we are not currently fiscally solvent and are dipping into our savings, we would prefer to pay monthly installments. $581.46/6 = $96.91/month. Let me know how we should reconcile January?<br>

To clarify, the invoice for insurance is for Sudo Room's policy with State<br>
Farm (not the Omni's general insurance). Our lease states that each member<br>
collective must hold its own insurance policy, and if any of the member<br>
collectives default on their insurance, John Givens can fine the Omni a<br>
percentage of the rent. After a few mishaps with member collectives'<br>
insurance policies lapsing, the finances working group decided to pay all<br>
of the individual collectives' policies through July.<br>
<br>
The Omni is also required to hold general liability insurance and<br>
director's and officer's insurance, and John Givens invoices us monthly for<br>
the building insurance policy he holds. We pay for each of these policies<br>
monthly and collectives share the expense. So, you will continue to see<br>
insurance as a line item on your monthly shared expense bill for the Omni's<br>
general insurance expenses.<br>

I can create a new invoice for Sudo Room's State Farm policy reflecting the<br>
monthly payment schedule.<br>

I'm not really in this discussion but I thought I should chime in. There<br>
was some discussion on lighting earlier and creating an atmosphere.<br>
<br>
The other day I brought to Sudo Room a fully functional "EZ up" that has no<br>
fabric canopy. I thought if it was set up over the work tables that it<br>
could be used as a structure for which to attach lights (temporarily) to<br>
test out some ideas.<br>
<br>
One person thought that it was an interesting idea - another person said it<br>
would take up too much room. I responded by saying that it would only take<br>
up 4 square inches since that is the foot print of each 1 in leg -<br>
otherwise it is a square grid in the air.<br>
<br>
Light can be clamped onto the grid or mounted by screws. If using the<br>
frame is not desirable then the metal can be hacked, used for the robot or<br>
scrapped. It could even be used at the maker faire.<br>

As per last night's discussion at the meeting I would like to suggest the<br>
following:<br>

The Omni building be declared a scent-free workplace. There are many such<br>
offices, etc., especially in the Bay Area. This means anyone entering the<br>
building is required to refrain from using perfumes (except natural ones<br>
from a health food store), hairsprays, deodorants, scented makeup, etc.<br>
<br>
All cleaning products and the like should be free of scents (many very fine<br>
natural ones are available), paint or other building improvement products<br>
should be free of scents and chemicals if at all possible (there are paints<br>
that are chemical free and have no odor.)<br>
<br>
However, any member project producing an odor or unavoidable smoke or odor<br>
from a room improvement that can't be avoided, should be exempt from any<br>
restrictions. In such cases, the membership should be informed of such<br>
project's timeline, so affected members can avoid building use at such<br>
times.<br>

Cere probably is thinking of the warmth of standard incandescent lights with a color temp of 2700K.<br>
A light with 4000K color temperature is a cool white, good for detail work, not so nice for comfort...<br>

The 8ft 75W T12 fluorescent bulbs should be around 5000 Lumen each. The<br>
7-LED bulbs you linked to are listed as 2100 Lumen, so 5 of those per<br>
fluorescent fixture should be enough to give the same illumination. The<br>
light will be a lot less diffuse though - one reason to perhaps experiment<br>
with LED strip lights instead...<br>

Actually my favorite "warm" lighting is halogens. Didn't bother to look at<br>
the specs but that combined with a little more whitish light would probably<br>
be ideal for sudo/ccl. Again. I think the light would be a lot more<br>
pleasant, whatever we choose, if it's projected to the ceiling and bouncing<br>
back down.<br>
