Today, in preparation of the one-year anniversary of last year?s Faire, we are<br>
excited to announce that the White House will celebrate a ?Week of Making? this<br>
summer from June 12-18. The Week will coincide with the National Maker Faire<br>

participation by federal agencies including: the Department of Education,<br>
National Science Foundation, U.S. Agency for International Development, U.S.<br>
Small Business Administration, Institute of Museum and Library Services,<br>

such as Marc Roth, who was homeless in San Francisco before taking classes in<br>
design and prototyping at a digital fabrication studio and maker space. After<br>
only several months of classes, Marc was able to open his own custom<br>

The President announced a<br>
large number of<br>
commitments made by the Federal<br>
government, mayors, educational institutions, companies, and<br>
non-profit organizations to expand opportunities for<br>
engaging students STEM through making, supporting makers who<br>
want to become entrepreneurs and make it easier for<br>
individuals to learn 21st century design and<br>
fabrication skills around the country. Twenty-one Federal<br>
agencies committed a suite of services for people interested<br>
in engineering and manufacturing, including expanded access<br>
to start-up grants, making it easier for makers to<br>
manufacture their products domestically, and business<br>
mentoring and training. More than 150 colleges and<br>
universities, over 125 libraries and more than 90 mayors<br>
pledged to take steps to help advance making in the United<br>
States.<br>

To continue to expand upon<br>
this effort, here are some ways that you or your<br>

Yes, it should be...It should run the same programming and everything else :)<br>
just check basics- voltage, output type, etc...you know<br>

(& you're supposed to be able to use the arduino IDE on Teensy but it didn't<br>
work for me. I used Programming for it)<br>

I lurk on the sudo list and I like periodically reading these threads about<br>
how you handle difficult people.<br>
<br>
It's really interesting because most voluntary associations exclude people<br>
they find difficult by informal and sort of secret means - participants<br>
talk in groups of 2s and 3s, "gossip," a group consensus emerges that they<br>
don't like someone, then they shut that person out by withholding<br>
information about future social gatherings. Also, they avoid the problem in<br>
the first place by being immediately hostile to whole categories of people<br>
who strike them as eccentric.<br>
<br>
Sudo room is different - it's more radically inclusive from the get, and<br>
it's filled with people who are committed to consistent open processes. I<br>
like reading to see how your process is the same and different from the<br>
ordinary implicit process of social exclusion.<br>

Dana donated a spool of warm-white LED tape, and another spool of<br>
addressible LED tape, to sudoroom.<br>
<br>
looks like about 5 meters of each.. so where should we set them up?<br>
<br>
the white LED tape is simple, it just turns on and lights, but the<br>
addressible stuff will need to be connected to a microcontroller of some<br>
kind to control it. Who will step up and do that? I can help with the<br>
power supply and wiring if you do the software.<br>

The centrifuge he mentioned may be a big Sorvall RT6000B. Takes up a ton of<br>
table space - about 2ft x 3ft. But can do a lot of volume as well...<br>
