Rachel - are you still up for clothes hacking? Anything else pre-planned in the line-up tonight. What do folks think about painting Sudo Room signage on the awning as an event?

I also think it's worth putting out there that we would be wise to keep this evening under more control than usual. Not just because of the misplaced fear-mongering, and disingenuous activism, and the stricter rules the police are imposing tonight - but I would say mostly out of respect for George & Laurie - who sent us an email which was clearly emphasized as important and asked us for good faith cooperation.

Given how extraordinarily supportive and even helpful they've been as landlords for our experiments, and the ongoing conversations about cooperating to create a sincere community benefit-sharing arrangement. I'm just saying we should probably think about enforcing the landlord's rules as significant for the long-term prospects of Sudo Room and fellow traveler initiatives.

The lock-picking thing may subject Sudo Room to disproportionately close scrutiny this weekend, with TV cameras, etc. as a real possibility. Of all the press clippings, only Cyrus and Susan's pieces (both part of our community, not incidentally) treated the issue fairly. Given how easily things can get spun out of control and out of context as we're seeing this week, caution should not be considered an indication of decreased determination for positive social change, in my opinion.

It seems to me we're essentially united on violence and destruction not being a viable tactic, and specifically not within our community. I would hope we can disassociate ourselves from groups and individuals and even political tactics with which we have strong reservations, at minimum. Given the nail in the coffin press Occupy has been getting, I can imagine some invested folks want desperately to stir things up again.

There should be a mutual understanding of the boundaries of what is and what is not OK at Sudo Room for tonight in particular, and that we should be transparent about it. And we should be supportive of each other in respectfully self-enforcing when one of us or our guests deviates from this understanding. A serious objection I personally have to Black bloc, as practiced in Oakland, is the opaque way in which the actions are organized and the deceptive way they manipulate a crowd to go along with them unwittingly.

I know that's more than the allotted 2 bit coins. I just believe sometimes it's worth saying some obvious things out loud.

I talked to a friend of mine from the neighborhood from the store who hacks on video stuff and she might bring down some simple slide projectors with funny slides & slide art in them.

Does anyone know about if george would mind thumbtacks in the walls in the common space?

Jenny also mentioned to me that the Public School wanted to show a documentary. Anyone have any further info on that, what time they're planning to do that?

Matt - there was someone who talked about wanting to spearhead some art murmur stuff - but I forget his name. It was when we were going on about a Sudo internship/externship.

Hey all,

I am planning to be there! I will have some garments I made and a bunch of art from my cohorts - knick-knacky merchandise to go on a tabletop or similar - laser etched driftwood, hand beaded accessories, that sort of thing. I also have some photo prints and laser etched wall art, are we allowed to hang things on the walls?
