I would love to see a lot of devices mounted stationary – not only for disasters.
This whould allow to have redundent communication network like the goTenna.
If it has wind + solar the box could be mounted on the roof and "forgotten".

I quite like the hand crank system, but it depends on what type of disaster we are anticipating.
Solar / wind works great if you’re holed up, the hand crank works great on the move - personally I’ve been working on a board that has ac/dc conversion, and whatever voltage you feed into it in whatever polarity, it charges the attached USB power bank.
This could be another option to allow people to clamp onto car batteries, power points, train reading lights (that was the inspiration for the idea) etc

We could combine the case for the ESP, the solar with the turbine directly.

Folks,

Solar is probably the best way to go anywhere south of the Arctic Circle but you may need to drastically increase the size of the solar panel to deal with areas with seasonally reduced sunlight.

They're certainly better than some of the simplistic traditional
generators, however some traditional wind generators can be rotated
out of the wind (or do so automatically if they're fancy) if speeds
get too high where the vertical models have no way to slow down. I've
seen people add centrifugal breaks to the vertical turbines so that
could be an option.
