Bay Area War Tax Resisters and Friends,
2018 has brought us a $700 billion US
military budget, the heightened threat of nuclear war and
increasing attacks on immigrants, education, health care, the
environment and all but the most privileged in the US. Those
of us who stand against these threats to our very survival
feel ever greater reasons to resist militarism and war, and to
redirect our taxes toward life sustaining work! The National War
Tax Resistance Coordinating Committee's website is an
excellent source of information on the methods and
consequences of refusing to pay for war.
The People's Life Fund is looking
forward to redirecting a record breaking $65,000 in resisted
war taxes to local peace and justice organizations this year!
We have increased the maximum grant size to $2,500 for 2018,
and extended the deadline to March 23rd. Applications can be
downloaded here: PLF
2018 Grant Application, or you can use or forward the
attached form.
We now have a People's
Life Fund Facebook Page where you can check for updates.
Please feel free to share it to let potential applicants know
about this year's grant cycle.
As usual, members
with resisted war taxes deposited in the People's Life Fund
are welcome to take part in the decision making process for
grants. Let us know if you'd like to participate by emailing nowartax@riseup.net.
Grassroots projects
are especially encouraged to apply. 501(c)3 status is NOT
required!
The deadline for PLF Grant Applications is Friday,
3/23/18 at 5 pm.
Please pass the word along to
groups that might be interested!
