I am not sure that I can make it on Sunday.
If I do, it will be only for a short time, a couple of hours or so.

I'm available in the morning and afternoon, but I'm definitely gonna go check out the chapel of the chimes around 5pm. (http://www.gardenofmemory.com/)

I think there's also lots to do re: running a new cable to the bookstore area? Not sure if that was started or not last weekend. David was really gung-ho about running it through the basement.

There is indeed plenty left to do, and Daniel is correct that a number of cables need to be terminated.

I believe the basement cable run needs to be finished as well (I can't recall the status).

There are probably some other things as well: I think all the routers were modded for poe, but I think we need to test that the longest runs provide adequate voltage; the routers probably need to be flashed with openwrt and configured properly; the whole setup should probably be documented (!!!); and I'm sure I'm missing some things... All in all plenty for just about anyone to do :-)

Usually there's a outstanding commitment to meet at the omni at noon on Sundays to hack on mounting things, but its always good to do a roll call before hand to get a sense of who else might be there and what people will be working on.

I have a prior engagement from 3-5pm, and I'm dealing with some stuff around my house that has a hard deadline of Monday, so I can't guarantee much attendance wise, but if the other things don't take as much time I will definitely swing by.

Good question.
(If my eyes didn't fool me, it seems that the rest of the runs need to be labeled and terminated the patch panel.)

Hey, all. Are people still planning to meet this Sunday to finish setting up the new nodes?

Sounds like heaven to me, if only we could just replace Google Voice...

Hangouts Dialer. :D

I can only dial out though. People have to leave me a message on Google Voice for me to call them.

Awesome! What app is it?

Thanks Noemie for the amazing portraits. Great shots!

This has nothing to do with cabling, but I want to publicly thank Ryan for figuring out which app I needed to use as a dialer to turn Google Voice into a working phone on wifi. I called my Mom in Virginia from the Sudo room, and that's the first time I've ever called her from California in 25+ years.

Agreed! It was great to meet some new folks, practice my crimping skills, take apart and solder some routers. Would like to get more practice flashing - will these not be flashed with sudowrt?

Since I'll be away this weekend, I'll see about borrowing Jake's long drill and finishing the basement run tomorrow :)

Hi Sudo meshers,

I had a great time helping install the Ethernet with you and wanted to thank everyone for such a fun day today. I learned a lot I didn't know, and I'm always gratefull for to learn from those opportunities.

I really appreciated the chance to follow the installation with you, and learning the openwrt flashing and soldering the tp-link boards, really expanded my technological horizons. Special thanks to Max and Mark for showing me the ins and outs of cabling/routers/re-configuring wrt power supplies, etc.!

Thanks to everyone for coming and doing so much work!

I'm calling it a night. We had six routers and five long ethernet cables to run to cover a 22,000 square foot building!

Here's what we accomplished today:

* Completed: Two ballroom ethernet cable runs: One at each end of ballroom.
* Completed: One ethernet cable run to far end of disco room (except crimping)
* Completed: One ethernet cable run to Counter Culture Labs
* In progress: One ethernet cable run to basement (need long drill)
* In progress: One ethernet cable run to La Commune (unsure how far it got)
* Two routers mounted on walls: Disco room and Counter Culture Labs
* All six routers modified for power over ethernet
* All six routers flashed with OpenWRT

Yay! Maybe next Sunday we can finish  the remaining tasks:

* Finish last two cable runs
* Mount last four routers
* Configure routers (we might work on this Thursday)
