Hello mesh people!

The next Build Your Own Internet office hours* is this Sunday March 18th from 1pm to late afternoon in SudoRoom.

This week, we are excited to be welcoming visitors from Alameda who are interested in Building their Own Internet!

We plan on providing them with formal training on the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to start their own community wireless network. We are looking for all the help we can get, here's an incomplete list of kind of people we need to help us,

- organizers: people who can coordinate space, logistics, and people.
- crimpers: people who can share their ability to crimp ethernet cable (it's easy, even if you don't know, we'll teach you)
- mounters: people who are familiar with the skills and equipment needed to deploy a roof-mounted antenna
- explainers: people who are comfortable explaining how the People's Open Network works, what doesn't work, and what we are working on!
- whisperers: people who can speak to the nodes on the mesh
- outreachers: people who can connect people to people
- drawerers: people who can connect lines, dots, nodes, etc. to form pictures
- talkers: people who can talk to people

So pretty much anyone and everyone.

If you are able to make it Sunday afternoon, it would be great if you could arrive by 12pm so we have time to clean up SudoRoom and organize some of the equipment.

Finally, this event is, of course, still open to the public. In fact, it would be a great time to come by and learn about the project!

Look forward to seeing y'all on Sunday!

* What are BYOI office hours?

It serves two purposes:

1. A jumping off point for people interested helping with a scheduled Sunday node mount, but who are not able to attend a Tuesday night meeting or are not "in the know."

2. A friendly, non-confrontational time for new people to get oriented to the project or just ask general questions about networking, the internet, and their service provider.

We may also use the time to hold training sessions on a topic of choice, conduct outreach to potential node locations, address finances and purchasing, or tackle any other outstanding issues.
