hey meshers -

As I was troubleshooting with Daniel and Arthur during BYOI office hours yesterday, we managed to get about 20 nodes back online. It reminded me that we sorely need more folks that can, and are willing to, help out with day-to-day network operations.

This why I'd like to volunteer to participate in another node whisperer session (see https://github.com/sudomesh/node-whisperer-program) provided there's enough interest.

The idea is that a node whisperer to-be will explain how PON works, setup some nodes and show how commonly used tools (ip addr, tcpdump, traceroute, dig, ip route, babeld and tunneldigger) can be used to troubleshoot network connections and figure out who's meshing with what. if this person feels sufficiently confident, then they'll get increased access to our existing network.

Please let me know if you are interested to help out with day-to-day network operations (aka node whispering) and if you are interested in joining tomorrow at 9p at Omni following the sudomesh meeting. With a reasonable amount of folks (>5) we should be able to have enough collective knowledge/eyes to keep our network healthy without having to rely on one or two individuals.
