Great idea!! I'd like to participate in some more community outreach specific meetings too... I guess it really depends on priorities and individual's interests though.  How important is outreach compared to getting the tech all ready to go?  As much as I am enjoying learning to hack this stuff while also helping brainstorm about outreach methods - I think there's certain individuals that prefer to only spend time on outreach.  Maybe we can throw in a community outreach dual session on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month - where people who want to hack can hack and those who want to don't can work on outreach. And if you like doing both... there's an opportunity to do either.

We can still encourage new-comers to introduce themselves at the general meeting but I think having regular outreach meetings is important too.

Thoughts?

-Paige (Sorry I couldn't make it last night - still have a pico, btw... ran into troubles but I've got time to focus this weekend!)

From now on every last Thursday of the month will be a general meeting with discussions, decisions and an agenda. The next general meeting will be on Thursday the 29th of August at 7:30 pm.

On all other Thursdays there will be a hack night starting at 7:30 pm (NOTE: this is an hour earlier than previously).

The hack nights will be for actually working on stuff, not for discussions or introducing new people to the project. We should discourage new people from showing up for hack nights unless they are willing to read up about our project on the wiki and dive right into a task during the hack night.

We are doing this because we have been seeing a trend where new people show up and we spend a lot of time introducing them to the project and answering their questions, and then they don't show up again and we get little real work done.
