I heard recently from some organizers of wiki-editathons in NYC that having a rolling "introductory training" every 30min or 1hr gets people going as they come in the door. You can start immediately with new folks and tell the next bunch "Oh, just grab coffee and in 15 minutes we'll start the training over"

+1 to above

Awesome,

Thanks for getting the ball rolling on this! As we talked about last
thursday, I probably will only be able to make Sunday evening/night and
Monday.

That being said, I'm definitely up for coordinating some part of this.
My biggest thing is not so much that we have a lot of infrastructure
(although I'll bring coffee and beer with me when I come over); I really
want to make sure we have lots of stuff for people to work on and good
documentation to make sure they can get up to speed as quickly as
possible. I can start brainstorming the key pieces of the mesh info that
we'd need to get someone onboarded as quickly as possible. Also - I can
think about which of our projects are most urgently in need of work and
the best ways to make sure people can plug into them. I would LOVE to
have a docker (/the new hotness in server management) skeleton/framework
and actually be able to walk someone through setting up their own dev
mesh in under an hour (I think it's possible...). That way we could
really let people work on any part of the whole without worrying about
people stepping on eachother's toes, etc.

Just my $0.02 for now.

Max
