Yes, I believe there will a number of us meeting at the usual time/place (Tuesday, 7:30pm, Omni Commons) to reflect on the byoi and discuss other goings-ons.

Hi Radamés,

Thanks for coming to the byoi, I recall talking to you. I highly recommend you come our meeting on Tuesday. Here are few links to keep your interest until then:

Regarding...
captive portal: https://github.com/sudomesh/sudowrt-firmware/issues/106
meshberry: I know some people have certain opinions on cjdns, but I'd rather not go in to that on the list.
ESPmesh: https://github.com/sudomesh/disaster-ping-pong is an attempt at getting ESP8266s perform psuedo-ad-hoc meshing. This (or disaster radio, or garden mesh) could potentially form separate meshes that interface with the 'real' mesh, but they would never be part of the real mesh because they are not capable of running the babel routing protocol, https://www.irif.fr/~jch/software/babel/

Hi All,

Thanks for the introduction to the peoplesopen.net on Saturday at the Omni Commons BYOI

I've got one router and successfully flash the firmware, all good. Unfortunately I couldn't yet find any close signal around my place, still need to climb on the roof and point to some possible directions. I'll try to buy the small antenna someone show me on the event. I'm sorry I can't remember your names.

I'd be interested in patch my firmware, as I've heard that there is potential bug that can make the node use my internet instead of the VPN.

I've tested the firmware connecting the router to my ISP, got two peoplesopen open networks and my private secure network, also could successfully access the internet through the VPN.

A practical question, do you have plans to put a captive portal, splash screen explaining the free internet access? perhaps some explanations on privacy, security, liability? I'm happy to share free internet to my surrounds, but would be great to share what's going on.

Another few questions,
Has anybody found a way to connect raspberry pis ad-hoc mode onto the peoplesopen? do I need two wifi USB devices? or the RPIs has already dual band? I'm very interested in the potential to add RPIs nodes to this existing mesh network.

And finally are the ESPs compatible with the mesh? can the ESPs talk to the peoplesopen and also to others ESPs, this looks very interesting https://github.com/sudomesh/disaster-radio

Thanks

ps. I think would be better come to one of your sessions to discuss those topics, right?
