At the Omni delegates meeting earlier this evening, we noticed that we haven't seen anyone Sudo Mesh show up for quite a while now. Is the project still alive in some sense, or has it gone completely dormant now?

Hi! I don't know what mesh@sudoroom.org is so it took me a while to see this email. We have our own domains sudomesh.org and info@sudomesh.org is the email we use for sudo mesh. Can you let me know where you saw the mesh@sudoroom.org address so we can ensure it's changed?

We are not dormant! We have not been having recurring stand-alone meetings (only a presence at most sudo room hacknights) but we are very much active. We held an antenna theory and construction workshop in July at DreamSpace Academy in Sri Lanka and set up some infrastructure upgrades to their hackerspace (including a video portal that should be soon linked to sudo room), in August we helped out a couple of South American mesh projects with equipment donations and lent equipment for the mesh at the dWeb summit. This month we received a $5k grant from The Internet Society for solar powered wifi hotspots for unhoused communities in the Bay Area.

Unfortunately our active core members have spent a lot of the summer months traveling which hasn't been conducive to having a delegate show up.

At a minimum, we would need someone who is willing to be listed on official Omni documents as the designated "director" on behalf of Sudo Mesh on Omni's board. Alternatively, we could remove Sudo Mesh as one of the official designating organisations listed in Omni's bylaws. That kind of official stuff will wind up getting more important as we get closer to having to sign official documents relating to refinancing our loan etc.

I will ask our members and find out who is willing and able to attend delegates meeting and sign documents and who will actually be in-country in the coming months. Unfortunately I will be traveling again soon and won't be consistently back until around the end of October so I'm not a good candidate.

Is there anything we can do to help revitalize Sudo Mesh as well as Sudo Room itself?

I am not much involved in the running of sudo room these days. We could definitely have CCL cross-announce sudo room events but honestly I'd talk to Jake or Andrew.

I expect that sudo mesh will re-start recurring open stand-alone meetings at the beginning of November but please do direct any interested folks to contact us or show up at sudo room hacknights in the meantime. There is almost always at least one sudo mesh member present.
