Ya'll! Here be some notes from today's meeting-thing:

We're going roadtripping Wednesday to get metal! And building starts next Friday. Woohooo!

TASKS
- Materials + Torch + Gasifier, a day with a pickup truck: Wednesday! Eric, Marc, Morten, Tom. Party. Who brings music + beer?
- website: Morten buys domain, marc has hosting. morten sets up the website. THinking wiki-style
- People-resources: Tom will ask some mates. Eric's got a few too. Eric see if getting camera man.
- Mail OSE: where to start. Eric!
- Getting metalL: ERIC: where to buy metal new + allpowerlabs, TOM: ask metal friends, MARC+MORTEN: ask around west oakland places ie. american steel
*** questions: got some free stuff? where do you source yours?
- Go thru material list, create overview of hopper and grater for next Friday's production. OMI's for next Friday: TOM: Hopper Grandwizard, Morten: Cheesegrater Grandmaster

LIST OF METAL PLACES
Materials:
- get in touch with the metal recyckers. make a list and put it out there (take list from OSE?)
- hiow to get materials cheaply:
--- BM communities
--- car dealers
--- steel artists
--- west oakland American Steel
--- pick and pull
--- use carparts, standard parts all across world)
--- junk yards for cars etc.
--- port of oakland repair facility
--- urban ore? reuse people?
--- advanced heliarc welding
--- foundry by the berkeley freeway. foundry of berkeley.
--- allpowerlabs
--- crucible

BUDGET/FINANCES
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiIRz_Mdr867dGtNd0JQY01hR3ZheUVoSk5pVHkxVHc&usp=sharing (gdocs seemed the easiest for now, though in the future we should set up something open source for sharing files etc.)

Misc thoughts
- Covering costs of CEB: leasing, operating as brick producers, co-ownership (liability?)
- Resources: Santa Cruz group; diyfor kids. made documentary for OSE.
- ASME pressure vessel code; Nigelk will look into it. we need to revisit these legal things once we've buiolt something that can kill people. for stqart, put on "this is art, doin't touch it". Possible sell as kit wiht one thing that has to be assembled; legal loopholes.

"MEDIA":
- assumption: it is valuable to people on the interwebs to learn from our expereinces as a rookie-metal-group doing OSE stuff.
---> how to form a group and replicate us.
---> breaking down intimidations (OSE is intimidating if you are new to metal and production in general).

Make a great day - and BIKE PARTYYY!
Morten

Tracy, you're awesome!
Thanks! We got our hands on one just before you wrote, so we are all set for now. But regardless, thanks and positive energy to you :)

Make a great day,

Hi all!

We at the Open Mechanics Institute need a oxy-acetylene torch (including gas etc.) to build our first project: the open source ecology CEB Press. ( http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/CEB_Press )

Anyone has one we can borrow / buy? We can arrange pick up of course, and might even be able to pay a buck or two for renting. We will of course replenish gas etc.

On the note of our work, if anyone who is skilled in metalwork and passionate about building and improving on the open source ecology suite, join us - we meet every Friday at a metalshop close to the Emeryville homedepot and build.

Make a great day,
The Open Mechanics Institute team :]
