Subject: New video/audio streaming/documenting list for Real Vegan Cheese

Hey Guys,

I'd be happy to help out.

I told Marc I would part with camera gear for a good price, which includes a bunch of accessories.  I also recommend getting a non cinema zoom lens for micro-four-thirds mount.  Cinema lenses are very expensive, and offer very few advantages for film work that is more stationary.

It looks like you're missing lighting stuff, and a PC that can handle pro-res, which shouldn't be too difficult to deal with.

You'll also want one indoor microphone, and a boom pole, and a preamp.  All of which I can find for you for cheap.  The "all-in-one" solutions for sound, kind of make things sound tinny, boomy, and cheap.

I'm signing up for the list now.

Since we have ~$5,000 for audio/video recording/streaming and related activites, I started a new mailing list for people who want to work on this.

It's here:

Please sign up if you're interested in working on this aspect of the project.

I also started a wiki page with my research so far here:

I know quite a bit about live streaming, encoding and video conferencing, but I'm very much a noob when it comes to professional film-making, including audio, lighting, shooting, editing and color grading.

I'd like us to get at least the following:

  * One live-streaming setup (camera+encoder+server)
  * One nice semi-pro film-making quality video camera + lenses and mic
  * One cheaper super easy to use handycam
  * A few cheap rasperry pi based recording setups permanently mounted where experiments are done
  * A nice projector for CCL (they don't have one)

It's likely that the camera for live-streaming can be the same as either the semi-pro film-camera or the handycam, making this list possible within our budget. Let me know what you think (but send your replies to the new mailing list).
