hey all,

the awesome foundation appears to have expanded its chapter system beyond "fund awesome things in x city" to include specific topic areas such as open web & food.

the awesome foundation model involves 10 people commiting $100 a month into a single $1000 grant awarded every month. the ten people then pick the grantee based on criteria they all agree on.

awesome foundation is accepting new chapters and from my understanding it's not difficult to get approved. i am wondering if there is enough interest and disposable $$ in our various communities to create a sudo- or bach- or other topic-specific awesome foundation chapter.

to gauge the number of people who would be interested in something like this and what kind of topic they'd like to support, please fill out yet another google form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/19hKmF0LODOcisqAzPPP2tlOprm-jWaisI_3GTZbKS-8/viewform

the results should be visible to everyone.

please feel free to fwd to others (bay area and non-bay-area..who cares - we have the internet!)

i'll follow up in a week.

I am very interested in joining forces. It would be excellent to have a Sudo-Fund of sorts. Pool together the minimum $1000, donate, then see the returns going back to the Sudoroom as it accrues.

Let me know if you want to come with or if you want me to ask any questions on your behalf.

Hi all,

I'm attending an info session this Wednesday to learn more about the People's Community Market. Anyone want to come with me? They have them every Wednesday 4-5pm in downtown Oakland; peoplescommunitymarket.com/2012/10/23/weekly-info-session/ .

I was thinking it would be cool to gather funds to have a joint donation. The investment returns ("3% annual compound interest and 1% store credit") could be then used for future Spaghetti costs (noodles, wine, etc) or other further investments (tiny house village, bobby's brewery/skate park, etc). But before I make any formal propositions I thought going to an info session would be useful.

If you are interested, they ask that you please RSVP at the link above.

If you don't know anything about the project yet: http://peoplescommunitymarket.com/

Also, if you have insider info that I'm blind to right now--please let me know what you know!

Best,
David
