It was indeed - sadly, said truck is currently out of (heavy hauling) commission due to missing motor mount bushing and worn-down leaf springs on the suspension. So no go from here. :-(

As for renting a truck, be aware that only the largest of the U-Haul fleet are full 8' height, so you may want to send a scout to see whether the cabinet can potentially be disassembled. Also, I volunteer to drive if you need a chaffeur who's used to moving big-ass trucks around.

Hi all,

Bio-Link Depot is currently holding a FREE Biosafety Cabinet for us, that would be perfect to start up CCL's BSL-2 lab room. That means we'd be able to work with human cell lines and samples, and to isolate microorganisms with interesting properties (such as bioluminescent bacteria from squid skin, or oil degrading bacteria from soil).

Catch is... we need to go get it! And soon, because there are other groups interested as well. The Bio-Link Depot is just North of the SF airport, only half an hour away if you can avoid traffic. We've been advised to pick up during daylight, so as to avoid interactions with the security around the airport.

LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN HELP OUT, and when during daytime works for you.

The current plan is to rent a UHaul truck with a loading ramp, and winch it up (the cabinet is on heavy casters). But if someone has a truck with a lift gate, that would be even better. Marc - the truck we used last time, was that Rikke's?

Thanks!

Patrik
