I bet the only reason the 8500/8550 ink doesn't work properly in our 8560 printer is because the shape of the blocks is slightly different. At least, that's how I would set it up if I were a greedy bastard who wanted to make it harder for 3rd party ink sellers.

Besides, they're using the same Material Safety Data Sheet for all the 8500/8550/8560 ink blocks, so they're probably all the exact same type of wax...

if we get the right colors, the printer will continue to print beautiful color prints in addition to the occasional circuitboards.

Also, I've been told by an expert that the 8500/8550 ink will not work properly in our 8560 so I doubt we could make our own ink without a lot of trial and traffic errors first.

I would suspect that (a) we may be able to use the cheaper black ink in the
cyan slot (or just print all-black) if you're just using it to make PCBs,
and (b) we may be able to mold one of those blocks and cast our own!

This MSDS claims the composition is largely polyethylene wax (CAS No
9002-88-4), with a melting point of 100C/212F:

Then again, this stuff is so cheap in comparison with inkjet cartridges,
perhaps we might as well get the official ink blocks...

unfortunately the ink blocks I acquired from a friend were for the wrong
model printer.  We have a Phaser 8560.

In order to do more DIY circuitboards in sudoroom like this:

we need three ink blocks for our printer:  Black, Magenta, and Cyan.

Black for $8.25:

Magenta for $8.99:

Cyan for "$16.99 or best offer"

won't someone get these so we can make more circuits?
