My understanding is that Sudo Room 501(c)3 was reorganized as "Omni Commons" and that the existing bylaws and board from the former "Omni Oakland Commons" were adopted by Sudo Room 501(c)3, and no new entity was created in the process. The names "Omni Commons" or "Omni Oakland Commons" do not come up in tax exempt organization searches, whereas the IRS still shows the EIN and name for Sudo Room as an organization eligible to receive tax deductible charitable contributions.

Filing a name change with the IRS from "Sudo Room" to "Omni Commons" for EIN 46-4109670 would clear up the confusion not to mention enabling Omni Commons to show up in searches for public charities.

Correct, there has been a change where sudo room is a project of a larger entity, not its own legal entity, so that letter of determination is deprecated.

On fundraising, I'd love to revisit the idea of fabricating and selling "sudoino" arduino clones.  Jake I agree with your past recommendations RE using the leonardo chipset now that I've messed with them a bit.  Could have a basic model and a few different variations, seems to be the way people do it now.  I've been paying $10 for the knockoff fullsize ones (3 for micro w/o headers) and kicking myself that I dropped the ball a few years ago.

however it would also be fraud as sudoroom's 501c3 wuz reorganized as omni commons when we bought the building. since then, sudo haz bin a fiscally sponsored project of omni commons.

Robb,

I attached a copy of the IRS letter of determination showing Sudo Room received 501(c)3 exemption in February 2016. This letter would be sufficient to obtain public charity listings on guidestar, ebay for charity, etc.

As soon as Sudo Room is listed as a charitable organization on Ebay for Charity I have several unused items I can sell and donate a percentage of the proceeds to Sudo Room.

Any updates on the latest financial status of Sudo Room? Here's a fundraising idea:

I run a 501(c)3 public charity and have been raising funds by receiving donations of physical items and re-selling them on ebay through "ebay for charity". It's enough to cover monthly expenses! I know Sudo receives donations of physical goods on a regular basis - some of which may not be needed. Sudo may also put items up for sale on ebay from time to time, and it is a plus to have "benefits charity" added to the listing.

We could definitely do this. Anyone who's willing to take on some of the work involved in acquiring, testing or selling the donations?

We already have a few things we could sell.
