Guess what..

I just remembered.. that giant pile of wooden table legs, stashed into an access door in the stairwell..?

Yeah.

make no mistake - we will weld :)what are peoples' thoughts on ventilation? that and outlets are the big things missing from the space right now.  i guess i could just bring it in for some trash room welding until backspace takes rightful claim of that room.

Alternatively, foldable sawhorses can be had for as little as $12 a piece - $24 for a table. Or as Matt suggested, if we have free 2x4's aplenty, we can just buy the brackets for around $3 a piece - $12 for a table with two sawhorses.

That may be the best (cheapest, lightest, and most easily stored) solution for temporary tables.

For more permanent tables, the threaded pipe solutions hol suggested would be awesome. Sturdy, simple to build, nice industrial look, and doesn't require any welding.

there are a few capable welders in the group, but probably the easiest way would be with threaded pipe and flanges: https://www.google.com/search?q=pipe+flange+table+leg&source=lnms&tbm=isch

once we have ventilation sorted i was planning to bring a small 120V welder in and i'd be glad to show you the basics.  it's a flux core welder so not the cleanest, but it fits in a backpack so that's neat.

concerning the doors themselves, they are taking up significant real estate in sudo room and we have plenty of folding tables for our use.  if they are of use to the omni overall, i'd suggest we find storage space for them in one of the common areas.

cheers

Hello!

I have been thinking about making some legs for turning those hollow core doors into tables when needed.

I came across this recently: http://www.thefloydleg.com/story-of-the-leg/ and thought.. we could make something like that!!

I only have some rudimentary soldering skills, but I'd really like to learn more heavy duty welding / metallurgy. Anyone here have experience with that at all?

Anyone interested in working on a project like this with me? Not necessarily tomorrow, but in the not-too-distant future?
