Also, state corporations (e.g. Nonprofit Public Benefit or Mutual Benefit Corporations) that have not yet obtained 501(c)3 status at the Federal level therefore qualify for this grant. So everyone who does not yet have 501(c)3 is elligible.

Further, +1 to Max, you can apply as a sub-project or sub-group.

I just forwarded to the Omni list too.

IIRC, you don't have to be a formal organization. So in this position, 3-D Tuesday  or any sub-sudo group could apply for funding. I've already written about 3-D education on my blog, so that can be recycled into a grant application.

Sudo Room received this grant in Round 7, so the grantees are "are NOT eligible to apply again as lead organizers in Round 8" but it seems that:

"former grantees (both lead organizers and additional collaborators) from ALL previous rounds may participate in Round 8 applications for new, completely unrelated projects as collaborators."

From the FAQ: https://www.soex.org/alternative-exposure/faq

I received an Alternative Exposure grant during one of the past rounds. May I reapply for another grant?
Beginning with Round 7 (2013), select former grantees are eligible to reapply for new projects (not related to projects previously funded by Alternative Exposure).

For Round 8 (2014) only:
If you received an Alternative Exposure grant from Rounds 1-4 (2007-2010), you are eligible to apply again as a lead organizer if 1) you are applying for a completely new, unrelated project, and 2) the first project was successfully completed and the final report was submitted to Southern Exposure. Grantees from Rounds 5, 6 or 7 (2011-2013) are NOT eligible to apply again as lead organizers in Round 8. However, former grantees (both lead organizers and additional collaborators) from ALL previous rounds may participate in Round 8 applications for new, completely unrelated projects as collaborators.

Announcing Round 8 of the Alternative Exposure Grant Program

Southern Exposure is proud to announce Round 8 of the Alternative Exposure grant program, which provides monetary awards to foster the development and presentation of artist-led projects and programs that are direct, accessible, and open to the public.

Since launching the program in partnership with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts in 2007, we have awarded $421,000 in direct funds to 120 Bay Area projects led by self-organized artists and small groups in the San Francisco Bay Area. Funded activities have included a new exhibition or exhibition series, the ongoing work of an arts venue or collective, a public art project, a one-time event or performance, publications directly related to the visual arts, an online project, an artist residency, a series of film screenings and more.

As a vital hub for the visual arts in San Francisco, Southern Exposure seeks to help sustain the Bay Area visual arts community through Alternative Exposure grants. To learn more about the many projects funded by Rounds 1–7 of Alternative Exposure, visit www.soex.org.

Generous lead support for Alternative Exposure is provided by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Additional support is provided by Grants for the Arts/San Francisco Hotel Tax Fund.

Round 6 Grantee Oakland Stock bestows a night's winnings to N’jeri Eaton and Mario Furloni for their documentary film First Friday.
