Hi y'all-

I'm back.  Well hot-damn!, we gots video.  One-two-three-POUNCE!;-)

Most importantly: anyone heard from James?

Yeah I will come on down just as soon as I eat breakfast (at this hour!) and make a couple of phone calls.  Who's around right now?  Anyone heard from James?

I get the distinct impression that it would be really really helpful if any of a number of people I think of as good friends here (you know who you are;-) would be around when I have to watch that video clip, by way of (this is going to sound dumb but what the hey) holding my hands or something. And yes I'd also like to keep a copy of it on my local machine.  I'm not going to watch it until then.

James and I were assuming that Robbie the Robber would have ditched those clothes, and thinking further about it, those clothes may have been a deliberate disguise or distraction, to get people looking for the clothes rather than the robber by face and build.

Description from memory: dark-complexion black male approx. 6' tall but crouched while robbing us, thin build, yellow-orange open shirt over white t-shirt, I did not notice his pants but James said yellow pants, short dark hair possibly receding in front, age anywhere 18-30, no obvious tattoos or other marks.  Gun was not a revolver and had a partially semicircular profile across the top of the barrel, flat at the sides of the barrel, possible diagonal ridges along the rear of the barrel toward handgrip, and the opening at the end of barrel appeared about the size of a 10-cent piece (though we all know that guns look bigger when they're pointed at you).

BTW the reason the police use a suspect-description system that goes: color, gender, height, weight, clothes top, clothes bottom, age, hair, tattoos/marks, is because it starts from the things you can see from the furthest distance away that can't change, and then goes to the things that you have to be closer to see clearly, then clothes which can change, and lastly tattoos etc. that you can only see clearly from close-up.

In retrospect it occurs to me: I didn't see much of the sides of his face, from which I can infer he was wearing a hoodie, which would have been what I recalled as the "open shirt."

OK, so I'll watch the video when I come in, and find out how that does or doesn't match with the video.

What might have saved my life:  Saying "dude, I can't even see you."  As in, without glasses on, and that meaning was probably clear.  As in, can't see you clearly enough to identify you.  Which was of course BS, but in any case we've got the video.

G. status update:  Got as much sleep as possible, which is about 5-1/2 hours' worth (typical for a work night, blech).  Learned something interesting about how my brain processes this stuff (details on request or later), and my resting pulse is still 90 - 92 (is normally in the low 70s, wondering about going to the hospital to see if there's a pill for that).

Here's a science paper I read last night, if anyone's interested in the kind of stuff I do to relax after a long work day or a night of having a gun stuck in my face:

More later, gotta eat breakfast.   If you already have my phone number feel free to call me, but please no posting my phone number to the list.

Hey, how'bout a Kickstarter to get T-shirts printed with this: "Visited the Robbery Capitol of America and was robbed, but at least I got this T-shirt."   Print a few hundred, they'd probably sell.

The video camera from inside the entryway caught the whole thing. It occurred at 2:30am and the clip got the robber spot on - face and everything.
George is on the phone with the police at the moment and giving the investigator access to the video clip right now.

If some folks can please help identify and describe the man, the following is how to access the clip:

Camera 5 is the one to zoom in on. Camera 4 is the one facing the street that was out.
(Camera 5 has the spot on view).

Click on the search tab and set the start time to 02:30am today 2013-06-01.

The outfit he's wearing is very identifiable, so acting fast to get this information right can highly increase the chance of his getting caught.

Can you and/or James come down here to give a description of the perpetrator(s)?

YOs-

James and I got robbed at gunpoint, right outside the side entrance, at about 2:45AM on Saturday 01 June.   Nothing like thinking that you & a friend are about to die, to screw up an otherwise great night.

No injuries, just terror.  The guy wanted our cellphones.  Lucky us, I don't have one and James had left his upstairs.  He got our wallets.  It could have been worse, he could have killed both of us.

OK, time for the kick-myself-in-the-arse maneuver, for not having gone inside the moment we saw an unknown guy walking down the street toward us late at night.  I should know better, hell I _do_ know better, but my safety-sense was down just long enough for the robber to get close enough to pull the gun, and the rest as they say, isn't history, just another statistic that got personal.

QUESTION: HOW DO WE GET THE SURVEILLANCE VIDEOS FROM OUR BUILDING AND THE ONE NEXTDOOR?

Peace, love, and safety y'all-
