Keep in mind that the regular contests Instructables holds are nothing to sneeze at either! If you're going to publish 10 instructables, and you put some effort into each, it's entirely possible that you could win more in contest prizes than you'll get from the sponsorship in the end.

For context, with the two instructables we wrote for BioCurious, we won a Nexus 7, a time lapse camera, a camera trap, an UP! 3D printer, and an Apple Macbook. That's well over $3000 in prizes, for a couple day's work...

This looks legit, and we already have cool people at SudoRoom like Gregg who write for instructables. It would be nice to get any of this equipment... what does everyone else think? Should we discuss this at the meeting?

Yo guys,

I think this is a good opportunity for us to snag some equipment, and if we divvy up the load, it can't be too hard.  Anyone interested in writing some articles with me?

Last week I found out Instructables is running a sponsorship program, if a
hackerspace writes a guide with 10 instructables, they'll grant a piece of
 equipment:

* CarveWright version C
* Up! 3D Printer
* Juki TL-2010Q Long Arm Sewing and Quilting Machine
* Electronics package (Oscilloscope + shop supply)
* A/V package ( DLP Projector, photo lights & setup)

Details: http://www.instructables.com/sponsorship/

Does anyone have an interest in trying to do this? I have 3 or 4 LED
projects I could write up. I'll try to make it to LED night / the meeting
tonight if folks want to talk about it!
