i share a few of the same questions and if possible, hope to attend the event and get them answered (unless anyone else knows any more details about this initiative and the people who are doing it).

Lastly, why not put together an incorporated entity to do this
ourselves?  Any such entity starts with a clean slate as far as credit
rating goes.  If we can pay rent, we can pay mortgage.  And if we do it
right, it could be live/work space of some kind, with individual
apartments and common workspaces and event-spaces.
