Just be warned, however, that even if you are accepted, the wait time until you actually get your housing will be VERY long. The waiting list is well up in the thousands.

Anyone low income person you know who needs housing for 30% of their income can apply for Sec. 8 until Tues at 11:59 pm. This happens once in 6 years for this area. They will take 5000 applicants to be put on the wait list. Last time they took 1500 out of 15,000 applicants. So maybe one in ten chance in a lottery, maybe better. Do it on line.
