Thanks Eric! We are pursuing a fully organic regenerative approach. This means no biocides (except occasional targeted use of things like neem, but no broad spectrum stuff). The focus is on building healthy soil and avoiding monocropping. Healthy soil microbiology and proper soil management actually really reduces weed pressure and improves crop health. Though on this approach netting is needed to block some pests.

Some weeding is needed and I want to use the vision for harvesting too.

This is roughly the process I want to pursue:

Thanks Taylor!
That’s a really neat robot you’ve built. I’ve seen some articles about precision weeding that can reduce herbicide use in industrial farms, is that what you will use the computer vision component for? What are your thoughts on addressing irrigation, pesticides, and fertilizer?

I like gardening, but am currently much more low tech (and struggling with irrigation this year — my tomatoes basically melted in the heat).

Hi Eric and welcome!

I am working on open source food infrastructure:

I also built an off road rover which I am using to learn computer vision:

For fun I do 3D printing, circuit board design, and python. All the same stuff I do for work. Oh and I produce youtube videos.

I will be trying to get to the Omni more often in the coming months, though I've found I was not as ready to socialize as I thought. But I hope I see you there in the future!

That would be fun!

Yeah! Let me know if you want to deactivate Comcast and switch to penpal’ing SD cards through the USPS like a local El Paquete Semanal
