I just saw this thread now, but I wanted to thank everyone for their research, work and input on this! :) Especially Max!

Re: LMI / wireless broadband, the building just NE of us blocks line of sight to Grizzly Peak, where I know some towers are located, which sucks. Main reason i did nit hit up Monkeybrainz.

AT&T saying no free pairs at the C.O. sounds like AT&T giving the runaround to sonic / us. So now we have an extra long run with less bandwidth to a farther CO? Boo. I thought a place like sonic might have a cage somewhere on site with some dedicated copper..

Sonic's ceo sounds like a good guy -- Omni being a center intending to serve a large number of civic groups, I think Sonic's ceo has a good case to make for AT&T finding at least one free pair, no?

Best,
David

Yep. But not until Monday. My connectivity is sporadic until then.

Did anyone try LMI to see if microwave was an option?

Update: Sonic called me because apparently the ATT Central Office we would connect to is full and has no free pairs. They refused to give a time estimate. I tweeted to the Sonic.net CEO dane jasper, if he could speed it up, and he said  he'd check it out. The said they would give us 1 month free as a comp so far.

For some reason it didn't occur to me that we could keep using the same
modem. Does Sudo Room own the modem or do we have to give it back to
the ISP when we leave?

I don't have any extra modems, but I could chip in toward the cost of
one if we decide it's a worthwhile purchase.

Still pretty good speeds. Does it work with the same CPE as the current
DSL service?
