come be a part of our next exhibition! exploring the Epistemologies of Slop and how generative technologies are reshaping trust, attention, and meaning-making.
while often used to describe AI-generated, engagement-optimized media, slop is becoming a dominant condition of online culture. we are looking for works that engage slop not only as an aesthetic, but as a social, technical, economic, and psychological condition. we welcome critiques of slop. we are also looking for works that embody it, aestheticize it, weaponize it, surrender to it, or reveal the strange new forms of culture emerging from within it.

announcing … our new book club! ✦
we’re speculating everything in our upcoming book club on Speculative Everything by Anthony Dunne and Fiona Raby.
each Monday, we’ll discuss one chapter in the book! the reading group will culminate in a collaborative public showcase, featuring artworks inspired by the series.
you do not need to attend every session to participate in the book club. each chapter stands on its own, and you’re welcome to join for the topics that interest you most.
that said, this is also a cumulative experiment. participants who attend regularly will have more opportunities to shape the direction of the exhibition, contribute to collective projects, and influence how the showcase ultimately comes together.
whether you're an artist, designer, technologist, researcher, writer, futurist, or simply curious about how things could be otherwise, join us for the first session on Monday, June 15th.

7-8pm - Antidatasets with Morry Kolman | a lecture and discussion with multimedia artist Morry Kolman ahead of the opening of his installation First Light at the Exploratorium.

6:30-9:30pm - Open Sound // Beat Battle | this week, Open Sound becomes a beat battle. everyone gets the same pool of sounds, makes a beat, then we listen together at the end. bring your gear, upload a sound, come perform, listen, dance, or just hang out in the basement.

7-8:30pm - computational poetry reading group | a gathering at the intersection of language and technology. this week, we’ll be reading and discussing Ensemble Park #2, a journal of experimental human+computer writing, joined by Alicia Guo and Ivan Zhao, who will share work and process from their contributions.
