Hey Laurie,

The rear stairway door lock was damaged? George didn't mention this at all when we walked through the space today, and we certainly did not have any trouble with that door for many months now. The other tenants of the building use that door so frequently these days, we hardly even had an opportunity to see it closed for too long before someone opened it up again to go downstairs and back up. Some more information about that would be great, like how it was broken and who is responsible for breaking it.

In fact, I pointed out to George how the 22nd St door entrance (not stairwell door) had been broken at some point weeks ago at the least (if not longer ago), though it remained partially functional. When I called one evening, I believe last week, it was because of this issue, and I was able to turn the cylinder into the correct position to make it functionally use-able again (until perhaps it would become dislocated again, which it did). I warned him about this lock because it looks to me like it may have been intentionally broken (to break in to the building). Furthermore, we rarely used a key to enter the building, unlike other tenants, so it is clearly not from our regular (or even excessive) use that anything negative would happen to this lock.

As for the front door keys, can you give me a total tally from your records of the number of front door keys from each the Sudo Room and the Public School? Today I gave George 2 front door keys (Broadway entrance to staircase).

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt-
Here is an almost-final accounting for The Sudo Room....
We were charged $100 to repair the rear stairway door lock damaged during
your move-out.  We are also waiting for the remaining missing Front Door
Key.  We believe that the only tenant (of ours outside of Sudo Room) that
you might have given it to would have been Eddan or Jenny (I certainly hope
you never gave one to Timon, because he has had one of his own as a tenant).
There are also 2 unaccounted front door keys from the Bay Area Public
School.  If we can't account for those remaining keys we are going to have
to rekey the master for certain (even if Timon returns the key to us, as he
is supposed to next Monday), and then share the cost with all involved.
That will not be a cheap item--total cost to rekey and print all of the
needed $15 keys would be approaching $2k!   So please try to get that second
key back to us and it will absolve at least the Sudo Room of responsibility
in that matter.
You have a $3000 security deposit, so if the key is returned we will cut you
a check for $3000 - $1930.48 = $1069.52.
Thanks, and let us know what you find out.
