Thanks everyone!

I'd love to "teleport" through the wonders of wifi to participate in the sudo meeting tonight. Is anyone willing to webcam me in?
(just think, a few years ago before Google Hangoust or skype this would have been prohibitively expensive - although I do spend more time looking at lolcat photos using social media than I do creating amazing solutions to help handicapped people in my life)

If you find it, there is actually a hack for that-- you can use Comfrey and put some water in, and make a poultice. You'd be able to find it in any park in San Francisco, and the former gezi farm had some which is, on Oak St. and Laguna. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comfrey Good luck Romy!

Oh no! I'm sorry romy! Yowch. I did that too once.

That flexleg thing looks WAY better than crutches.

All I can say is be religious with regards attending to any physical therapy after you've healed up a bit.

Best

Thanks Jake! I'm going to check out FlexLeg. It looks like a very interesting option.  I like the fact that they rent the devices out too, giving people the option not to buy them.

Life is a lot different with an injury. And now I'm wading through the complexities of the health insurance system...
I'm much more empathetic to people in wheelchairs and with artificial legs. [empathy is a lot better than sympathy!]

oh no romy that sucks!

well, people used to use prosthetic legs which were basically a lower leg that you kneel on top of.  so picture an upside-down L and your bad leg is bent at the knee 90 degrees.  your lower leg is strapped onto the top part of the upside down L.

you put a bunch of padding on the top, and use padding on the back of your calf, and then you can wear it for hours and walk on it just fine.

people whose feet or legs were chopped below the knee walked around on such things their whole life.
