I've been on the upstairs 'Omni Commons' access point all day and it's doing great for me! I did have some finicky DNS issues earlier, but a simple page reload resolved the addresses each time. Havent had any in a few hours.

Great work, Daniel & co! \o/

As a follow up:

I have been on OmniCommons SSID for a while now, and no issues. I just swapped to "SudoMesh-1-2.4 to compare TCP stack with Morgan's, and what we saw is that his DNS IP is pointing to his machine itself (127.0.0.1 and to Search), while on my mac I get our router's 100.64.64.1.

And by the way, I am using "Omni Commons", signal that comes from the Second Floor by the public computers. :)

The one at Sudoroom, and the one at the Second Floor AP are not routers, they are Access Points, more like extenders.
This means that they don't run any DHCP or DNS resolution themselves. Like the Mesh or PON's do.

I am at sudo right now, and as I just mentioned to Morgan (yes we are both here this early), we still have the other AP (the one at the second floor) plugged into the network. So how come the network is not having issues when that AP also ends here at the same switch?

The ONLY thing that comes to mind at this moment is that the new setup may be at fault is that the Ruckus Wireless Controller may see the Sudomesh, and PeoplesOPen.net, as malicious rogue clients/APs/Routers (or something alike) and tries to block them. But I will look into that right now after this email.

Anyhow, I also added that would be good to know the source of the issue as soon is possible, because if the new setup its an issue, then I should stop until that issue is resolved. And if it is not the source of the problem, so I can continue without the feeling that I may be annoying folks.

Thanks!

I unplugged the Omni Commons routers and it appears to be working better

FYI: Changes I made last Saturday:
1- Install Ruckus WiFi Controller (creating the "Omni Commons" SSID.
2- install one Ruckus AP
3- firewall ethernet cables passing through the hp switches, then from the HP switches to the Dell Switches, as follows:
Top HP Switch to Top Dell Switch;
Bottom HP Switch to Bottom Dell Switch.
4- Some cables from the Bottom Dell Switch were moved to the Bottom HP Switch, mostly runs coming from the building. Like the second floor computers, for example.

Changes that happened on Thursday night:
1- Remove the switch located at the second floor, and installed an HP PoE.
2- Remove the PON Node that was at the wall, it was disconnected anyways.
3- I installed a Ruckus AP on the bin above the publici computers.

OTHER CHANGES THAT I AM AWARE HAPPENED:
1- Steve's IPFS server got moved to the server room, and we plugged in the HP Bottom Switch.
2- Yesterday, Thursday night, Steve made me aware that there is a laptop in the server area downloading some stuff. I don't recall the name of who the laptop belongs to. He mentioned, so I do not think that it was an abandoned laptop.

Will be good to know soon what is the cause of the shaky WiFi, because I am planning to continue installing APs, tomorrow, and maybe Sunday.

Thanks!

sounds like maybe a rogue dhcp server?

After changes made on Tuesday the wifi has been super flaky. DNS lookups
start failing after a certain period, disconnecting/reconnecting wont fix
but switching APs might. But it will happen again on that one. So far I've
seen similar symtons on sudomesh, peoples and Omni Commons
