Hi Jason, welcome to our community.
Sudoroom is a member collective of the Omni Commons, whose values
statement can be found here:
https://omnicommons.org/wiki/Values
and sudoroom's Articles of Association can be found here:
https://sudoroom.org/wiki/Articles_of_Association
Sudoroom has weekly meetings Wednesday nights, and other events such as
Hardware Hacking Tuesdays every week at 7pm, and there is an informal
Javascript Thursdays event most weeks, as well as other repeating events I
may not be thinking of right now.
Come by anytime people are there (tuesdays are a good bet) and meet
people.

so was that a problem with upstart, or systemd, or init or how did it
happen? i'm trying to learn more about how unix systems start and stop
things. right now a computer of mine is not accessible because an upstart
script isn't working and i don't know why.

I got the refund 2 weeks ago. And I donated to sudo room the amount of the
refund. So the refund was returned to Sudo Room.

weird.. the voip phone in sudoroom rang, and i answered it (it looked like
it was coming from the payphone)
but then someone was pressing touch tones, and then a click.. and now
there's music on the line. I have no idea how that is possible.
and the other day, i am told that the payphone started ringing out of the
blue.. no explanation for that.
is someone hacking our voip and playing around?

I was recently informed by a comrade that an officer from OPD attended this
week's Business Improvement District meeting and stated that it is OPD's
intent to SHUT DOWN THE OMNI due to the "hacking activities" of the
building.
I, for one, consider this to be an outrage that needs to be met with the
full force of the global hacking community & a slander lawsuit from
5ud0r00m.

I can set up remote participation with a decent microphone if needed.

Hooray for a much-needed meeting!
I'd also like to discuss some fundraising ideas, any project announcements
folks might want to have included in Omni's first official newsletter,
hacker happy hour point people for the coming month, and two new omni
member collective proposals (Agua Viva

To unpack that for people who weren't at the meeting where this was decided:
All wednesdays are now social hangout/beer/soda/snacks events, except for
the second wednesday of the month which is a meeting (with
snacks/beer/soda/food) followed by hangout/social.

Zach wants to donate these nice pieces of test equipment to sudoroom:
http://imgur.com/wZuPmi2
http://imgur.com/LTSFfOe
http://imgur.com/oQQsfgc
and Jacob M. has volunteered to go pick them up (although he doesn't have
a car and they're in SF)
Does anyone with a car want to go to SF to pick them up?
but Zach wants to know that he can get them back whenever he wants.
Zach, Sudoroom can't guarantee the safety of your equipment that is left
there. But I can say that my LeCroy 9150 and Sorensen DCR-2025B and lots
of other good stuff are there and i'm not worried about them, and you
shouldn't worry either. If you ever need to come get these things back
you can do so. We appreciate you letting us use them in the meantime.

Jake,
Anthony has volunteered (below) to pick them up.
Could you fill him in on the details?

Thanks for sending out this email and CC-ing me jake.
To be clear, these are meant as a donation (no quotation marks) to sudo room, for as long as sudo room exists. What I mentioned to Jake was that if sudo room closes for some reason (we are all struggling with rent in the bay here) I would want them back. They would be the property of sudo room for as long as sudo room is around (hopefully forever).
does that make sense / is that agreeable to people? i wouldnt care if the equipment was damaged from use or whatever
if it is very hard to pick them up i can make some time in the coming weeks to drive it all down there.
#hackersolidarity!

Hi all! Thanks for offering to donate, Zach, and for connecting us Jake.
I'm good crossing the bay via BART and picking up the items. I can carry
them in a hard rolling suitcase, so they should be reasonably safe. Let me
know if someone with a vehicle would rather pick them up, as that would
make more sense. Otherwise, let's arrange a time for me to pick them up
Zach. I am flexible, nearly anytime this weekend works fine.
Have a great day all!
Peace,
Jacob

I'm going to see about picking them up tonight, since I'm in SF now and
heading back in the sudo direction this evening. Will let you all know if
it doesn't work out.
