So kinda related to this - I am moving back to TX soon and will be taking some of the tools I brought into sudo room (years ago) back along with me.

The ones that I see used regularly that will need to be backfilled are the 1/2 HP drill press and the chop saw.  Other tools that I don't see people using but will be taking are the MIG welder and sawzall.  The autohacksaw and wood/metal lathe are donations to remain in the space unless someone wants me to haul them off.

Also need to grab my old jobox out of the maintenance room and will build out some light shelving to ensure storage continuity.

So who has a drill press they want to bring into service at sudo room?  Chop saw? I will try to make it in tomorrow during naptime to help with defrag.  Most likely 1-2 weeks out from packing tools so no emergency.

Yes! Great! You should send out a new email to the sudo discuss list
that isn't a reply to this thread and tell people that they need to
register in the sheet before March 13th if they are using a locker and
that otherwise anything in their locker will be thrown out.

Also it would be a good idea to put a note on the physical lockers
with the same info and a link to the sheet.

I suggest we give people until the Ides of March (i.e., March 13th), then we
can clear them out and lock them.
I suggest we get rid of the ones on the wall (Shelves would be more useful
if we were to store stuff), but that would mean Thex (#23) would have to
move to the stairs.

Also, someone needs to manage this for locker assignments, i volunteer to do
this, unless someone else wants to..

Agree with inventorying lockers we have and taking pics of occupied

better locker organization could save space and provide some much needed

There seems to be a lot of lockers with padlocks on them, maybe a system
should be put in place before we remove anything, and also a claim grace
period? i'm sure theres a few abandoned lockers with padlocks on them?

I agree with hol, most of the lockers may be better placed elsewhere as
omni-lockers instead of sudo lockers. They just got buried under shit
and un-touched for a long time.

I am aware jake is a big fan of lockers, so perhaps we keep some but not
all. I have a large locker that can replace the trunks in the back and
should be sufficient for what purpose they currently have. It has many
small boxes and some tall ones too, it's metal and very durable.

It is in alameda and I would need help moving it but it is free.

I have a locker.  It's pretty clearly marked and has my lock on it.

We should have a system for lockers where they're each labeled with info
of
whether they're available or in-use and how long they're "rented" for
or
whatever.  We need a laser beam scanner projector to shine vector
lettering
onto all the lockers so it's clear what's what.  And automatic emails to
locker
owners to get their stuff or pay up.

I want to keep the wall behind the giant robot reserved for mounting 4x8
foot
sheets of material for the robot to cut from.  It's capable of reaching
that
entire area and it would be like a great shop-bot.  It has a plasma
cutter
function and so it could cut from sheet metal too.. but that's just the
four
feet directly behind the robot, plus a little room on either side for
mounting.

Super Stoked about all the progress!

One thing for group discussion is the lockers.  Anyone know the
status
of who has a locker that they actively use and whether these are free
or
generating revenue?  There was some discussion about moving these to
omni common areas to be managed by Omni for a little extra revenue
generation, presumably with certain blocks of lockers reserved for
free
use by member collectives. IMO the less personal enclosed storage
that
happens within sudo room the better, especially if it enables us to
extend the workbench all the way across the back wall.

another option for ewaste disposal is TDR recycling - 738 105th Ave.
Oakland, Ca. - open 8-4pm mon-fri - will literally unload any ewaste
in the truck into carts for free. don't need to itemize, and random
bits okay.

home sunday, happy new year SUDOERS!

people
helped.  Adam even brought a trailer on his car and hauled away a
bunch of huge
bags of garbage, and I took a bunch of stuff in my car to get rid
of.

There are several large contractor bags full of general e-waste, but
it's too
randomized to be taken by our e-waste pickup service because it can't
be
itemized - just tons of wires and adaptors and circuitboards and
junk.

So Someone needs to take those bags of e-waste down to Universal
Waste or
another E-waste collector and drop them off, hopefully without any
trouble.

Here is the link to Universal Waste, make sure they're open when you
go:
https://www.unwaste.com/drop-offs/

Make sure to grab that glass CRT monitor on the floor near the coffee
station,
and the glass CRT television on the shelves, and also the giant dead
television
in sudoroom!

Also, I fixed the dead light fixture over the southeast corner of
sudoroom and
it's nice and bright in there now.  And Adam installed a really fancy
light in
the main entrance hall.

Also, a funny thing happened - we piled up a bunch of electronics
and
transformers and stuff on the sidewalk outside Omni so i could load
it into my
car and take it to my neighborhood where a lot of scrappers live, i
was going
to give it to them...but apparently someone saw them and snapped them
up before
we could even load them into my car - which is great!  funny though.

Sudoroom has more than enough room for everything we need, if we

it wisely. And everything we don't need can fuck off.
