Thanks Muiren for writing this. In terms of concrete actions sudoroom can take as an org, I want to uplift what you said about doing more outreach. I heard Andy talk about membership drives a few times now, and just this week the Monday night crew were saying the same thing. This is potentially something that everybody can agree on and a great way forward.

As a caveat, I also have to be honest that in the past when some of us have tried to recruit to omni, it did not help much with diversity in the long run because the most severe problem is not intake of prospective members of color - it's retention. People show up for a bit and then leave, sometimes after being in active conflict with entrenched white personalities, and experiencing various degrees of pain and harm along the way.

Which is why I want to echo and uplift the other parts of your message, which IMO get at the root problem. If you'll forgive me for restating and rearranging some of your words, I'm seeing some very clear things you are asking from the sudoroom community, in terms of our personal behaviors:
* be real rather than fake
* be vulnerable and socially invest
* make space for uncomfortable, messy human complexity
* face hard truths about racism
* accept criticism of racism, and not punish people for it
* subvert and dismantle systems of racialized class hierarchy

Is that a fair summary? As another actionable step we can take as an org, do we think maybe this could be the seed of a new Code of Conduct? Maybe if we set clearer expectations for all members, that can be transformative and move us beyond this chicken and egg problem we've had for so long in trying to make sudoroom anti-racist.

And finally, in terms of dismantling systems of racialized class hierarchy, I would offer another concrete step we can take as an org: clearly communicate a NOTAFLOF sliding scale for member dues. This is something we used to be very good at, but somewhere along the way - and without a full consensus agreement iirc - people forgot it and started to tell new people they HAD to pay money to join. I would love for that to change.

Please let me know if I'm out of line in interpreting your message this way, or if there's anything else you'd like to add. I value your insights very much.
