Hi Simulation Sessions Attendees,

Our partners at Simfrancisco/City Science MIT are doing a civic simulation hackathon on Saturday and I thought y'all should know.

Also, note, haven't been able to do unsubscribes; if you want to unsubscribe, please let me know!

Best,
AK

Ari, thanks for helping to spread the word on the civic hack-a-thon. Here’s what we would like you to share:

Sf10x Civic Hack-a-thon.

August 1, 5pm - August 3, 4pm

There are 2 projects that will be particularly compelling to the World Builder community.

  1. Tools to build visualizations of new development in SF.  Using a sample dataset of proposed building heights under Family Zoning, and a variety of 2d and 3d street view imageries, help create new visualizations of development across San Francisco.  The key here is all visualizations will pull from an approved dataset about the constraints of development under Family Zoning.

  2. Parcel-based data model.  SF Planning has a dataset that provides some data pertinent to city growth.  However there are many more sources of trusted data that can enrich the model and open up new possibilities for simulations.  Please join us to propose new expansive data architectures to accommodate a broad array of trusted data and integrate these new sources of data.  And in collaboration with urban planners, build new simulations based in the trusted data sources.

If folks from the Gray Area community have questions, please have them contact me kate@cityscience.org .

Thanks, Kate.
