On that point, I am most interested in setting it up as a crawler (which ought not to have any privacy implications), and would only secondarily introduce the option of using the indexing proxy for those specifically interested in that.
Using the indexing proxy would certainly at least bias the YaCy index towards pages YaCy users visit, which on the one hand is interesting as a subtle form of collaborative filtering, and on the other hand reveals information about the aggregate browsing habits of YaCy users in general at least.
