Hello everyone!
Here's a link to the .obj's on box.com (ballroom and :
https://app.box.com/s/rtc43pit4qx5ohnptd0k

Anyone with the link should be able to access the files.

What I do is I open the files using MeshLab (open source mesh editor). If you download that program, then all you have to do is drag in the .obj file into meshlab and it should open up (once the file has been exported). You could then export the mesh from there into a lot of other formats.
When it comes to dealing with 3d meshes (point clouds of sort) there is one trick I know to help using the file in other 3d modeling programs (like maya).
That is:
Once the file is in mesh lab, export the mesh as a .dae file (Collada file format). That file type seems to better hold the texture data between programs better and is easier to import into programs like Unity3D and possibly revit (though I haven't used revit before).

That's all folks! I hope you make good use of the scan data I gave you :).

I was just browsing the books in the ballroom, dancing on the stage, and counting screwdrivers in the sudo room workshop... What. The. Fuck.

Thank you, I hope this only gets weirder.

Thanks all! I'll send out those .obj's tomorrow for you to mess with.
As for attribution, I just wanted to help you all out in a way I could. If you could mention Immersio, go for it, since that's the company I run doing this stuff :)

This is amazing!! Thank you so much Eriks! Wow.

I'd like to send these out in an update to our crowdfunding campaign and our social media channels this week. Preferred form of brief attribution? (brief because twitter ;)

These scans are very impressive and they will be useful for so many things. Is there an easy way to get a point cloud dump?

The amazing human Erik Strals, of Immersio, 3D-scanned the ballroom & Sudo the other night.

It took him quite a long time and was a labor of love. The results are in and they are SO cool.

I love this human!

He even offered to come back and help do more of the building! yay! Yippee!

This will be so useful for our architectural / permit work especially too! So great -

Thank you Eriks!!

From Eriks:

1)
Here's the 3d scan viewer for the ballroom:
Here's the "workshop" (where you can measure things and write comments):

Here's Sudoroom and Counter culture labs:
and the workshop:

2) Please forward along to the groups who might be interested in seeing them! And hopefully you guys find uses for it. Please let me know if you do find uses.
Also, it would be nice to get some recognition ;)

3) Otherwise, I can do some more scans in the future, probably next month around the same time.

4) Please also forward this to Mark (don't remember last name, he had a beard), who was the first person I coordinated with within Sudo Room.
