Hey All,

To answer a few questions, we would like to Stewart the space by empowering other interested parties to also Stewart it. If at some point the space handles itself and doesn’t need us, that’s cool too. We’ll still come by and use it as Commoners. ABDC could be a collective or just a place in the building. We can rename it, we don’t care. Just want to have it be used. To answer the first question from someone who didn’t sign asked: If it’s of donation or storage:
If the Omni no longer wants the Studio equipment we will give it to another community center.

First—congrats, ABDC, for finding a space that better fits your desires & needs! Very exciting.

I am definitely pro more collective resources, and this does sound to me in general like a useful resource. I would, nonetheless, like to second the question re: storage vs donation. A related question for me is whether the proposal is for ABDC to not only set up but also steward the Utility Print Station? Such an offer to steward seems impled by both the offer for regular trainings and the comment: “two screen printers who have recently asked to join the Coop and we would like to include them in this transition so that they might help facilitate the new basement space.” Along with a floorplan, additional details about this facilitation could be nice. I’m also wondering: y’all would remain an Omni collective, even if no longer tenants?

This sounds like an excellent proposal...imo the Omni needs more collective resources that are not the exclusive purview of a single collective.

If at some point in the future Omni decides to re-donate those tools,
would that be a problem for ABCD?  If the answer to that question is yes
then I think the correct word is "storage" not "donation."

Generally the less the basement is used as storage space the better and
we would all love to see better utilization of the basement in any way
valuable to the community.

On that topic I would love to consolidate woodworking equipment and wood
from elsewhere in the omni to the basement (with proper fire safety
provisions) and have a dedicated woodshop there serving the whole Omni
as well, only tying this in here because I hope there would be room for
both.  We turned away alot of really great organizations toward the
beginning of the Omni because we didn't want to "balkanize" (DK's words)
the basement but I fear that has blunted alot of energy to transform the
space and sent collectives to other spots.

As with past such requests a floorplan showing proposed areas and
equipment would better help the member collectives make an informed
decision.
