Its really strange. The feds have been welcomed at Defcon since the beginning. Even when they were actively arresting people like Phiber Optic and Kevin Mitnick, the feds were more than welcome at Defcon. It's weired that DT has chosen this year to say something like that. Especially since the head of the NSA gave the keynote last year.

But it's shocking and also heartening -- Dark Tangent gets a lot of money and access with his deals with the feds, as do a lot of the infosec people there.  To publicly come out like this is a pretty big deal, even though the whole thing is pretty much unenforceable.
