I defer to your judgement patrik re the uv-c; however I think it could be done safely? if:
- eyeglasses protective against UV-c are worn the entire time the UV-c bulb is being handled or used.
- while being handled, the uv-c bulb is attached to an extension cord that is physically unplugged in to the wall.
- the uv-c bulb (attached to the unpowered extension cord) is placed in a fridge compartment with all shelving removed, and the compartment door is closed as much as possible (is left open just a crack allowing the cord through.) An electrostatic air purifier could be run at the same time.
- 2 tarps are placed over the entire fridge, with a sign taped on front stating for safety reasons, stating not to touch tarp / DNH unless you are the person cleaning the fridge.
- with the fridge thusly tarped, only then is the extension cord powering the UV-c is plugged into wall, powering on the uv-c light.
- the fridge is directly monitored by the person working on the fridge, for 1-hour per fridge compartment, who could work on their laptop or another task while this was happening.
- the extension cord is physically unplugged from the wall prior to shifting the light from one compartment to another, and prior to lifting the tarp for any reason.
- after it is finished, with the extension cord unplugged, the bulb is also immediately disconnected from the extension cord and placed back in a box well-labeled with warning etc.
Do you think such precautions would be adequate?

I don't think a UV-C bulb is the best way to go - those things can be bloody dangerous for anyone looking at them without the proper goggles - but we do happen to have one in CCL.
I would recommend getting a good mask rated for mold spores - an N95/KN95 should do - and liberally spraying down the interior with bleach.
I support paying Lovi if that is what it takes to get it done, and I'd be happy to pitch in for an hour or two.

I texted with Lovi the other day, who is still a pending member of Sudo, and Lovi mentioned they would be willing to deep-clean Sudo's deeply-spoiled fridge, if paid $25/hr cash and supplied with the various means to do so.
To my knowledge, no Sudoer has voluntarily pursued cleaning this fridge for the last four months or so after the request went out. It was also insisted that the fridge be kept and not dumped (Patrik thought it was unsalvageable due to the near-certainty of mold growing in inaccessible places.) The fridge incubated a large quantiy spoiling food, unplugged, for an unknown number of months during the pandemic.
Anyway - as Lovi is not yet a Sudo member, as a Sudo member I would like to propose that Sudo take Lovi up on their offer, and supply:
- an electrostatic air purifier, and a UV-C light bulb to help passively de-mold in the first pass in all compartments. The total cost for both is expected to be <$80.
- bleach, cleaning agents, sponges, paper towels, etc in the second pass. Expected cost is <$20 in the event Omni's cleaning closet lacks these items.
In terms of active labor I believe at least four hours should be budgeted at a minimum, = $100.
Expected cost: $180.
Contingency: $20.
Total: $200.
In return - if Lovi still has capacity and inclination to engage with this task - I would propose that Lovi provide a do-by date to complete the work, for the benefit of all sudoers who wish to once more preserve edible food in a sanitary fashion.
