Yeah let's make a wiki page with recommended crypto apps/tools.

Also just pointing out that knowing what app to use is only half of the problem.  Most of these seem easy to use but you have to use them in just the right way.

Examples:
-- With encrypted email, the subject line is NOT encrypted
-- Tor hides your location but makes it much easier for people to be a man-in-the-middle on your traffic
-- Adium supports OTR encryption but also, by default, logs your messages to disk in plaintext
-- If you're an Interesting Person, consider that you might already have a keylogger on your machine which would render all of these tools useless

Here's a summary of the tools I heard being talked about.  Please correct / update this list.
(I didn't hear any iOS tools being discussed; everything was Android only)

Web anonymity: Tor Browser Bundle, or Orbot on Android

Phone calls: RedPhone from Open Whisper Systems

SMS: TextSecure

Email: Thunderbird with Enigmail plugin.  On Macs, GPGTools as the underlying library; install this first?

Chat: OTR, supported by many client apps:
    http://www.cypherpunks.ca/otr/software.php
Deskptop: Adium, Pidgin (which has lots of security problems apparently?)
    Android: GibberBot, Xabber
In-browser: I didn't hear any talk about Crypto.cat and would love to know what the consensus is on it

Encrypting files/folders: Truecrypt

Full disk encryption: ??? (I missed this part)

And here's a CryptoParty handbook that came from the old cryptoparty.org website which has gone down recently for some reason

Cryptoparty was awesome!  We had about 35 ppl come out and learn how to
install and use GPG, OTR, full disk crypto, and phone security.

A follow-up is definitely in order.  It would be great if we could get
little quarter-sheet info pamphlets to people for reference, resources,
and more info.
