Currently, only key-holding members of member collectives are granted 24-hr access to our space. Key-holding members are not required to open the space to non-members at any time, and all non-members are required to be guests of key-holding members when they are in the space outside of scheduled events and the bookstore's general operating hours which are Tuesday - Sunday from 12pm-6pm.
This means that if you, as a key-holding member leave the space *at any time* and there are no other key-holding members willing to vouch for non-key holding members that may be present at the time, everyone must leave.
Many other spaces have a rule where non members are only allowed after a certain time when invited/vouched for by a member.Once, I've been kicked out of noise bridge around 11pm cause the last member was leaving. The omni is big by comparison, so it's harder to tell if there's other people in the building.Having a rule that there's always a member present and the last one out does a sweep before they leave, it would be in line with other places I've l seen

If we can do the building sweep before any sleepers are fully settled in, and while there are still enough members around, we shouldn't have to get into that kind of situation.
Face it, if there are still non-members around after midnight, chances are they're hoping to spend the night. ..

Just so you know - it's hugely appreciated!.I try to do my best checking the doors as well. I think the situation - at least in the evenings when I'm around - seems to have gotten much better lately than it was in the past. I'm not in as often as you are, but I'll try to step up my efforts when I am.Let's definitely kick out non-members who consistently and intentionally violate our rules. after i let jerome in the building this morning, i discovered that jerome had left the shattuck side/ballroom door open so i asked him "what the fuck" he left the door open for.rather than answer my question he took offense at my tone (understandably as i was angry) got in my face pointing and tried to start a fight with me withi get that jerome helps out around here but leaving the doors open for anyone to walk in at anytime completely negates the occasional floor mopping that he does, imho.i will not be letting jerome in anytime soon~r
