we have someone scheduled to come in to record an oral history for oakland
wiki at sudo next saturday afternoon, and i was thinking we can do a "today
i learned" session (https://sudoroom.org/wiki/Today_I_Learned) that's just
having people record each other. good way to get oral histories, start
people recording, and get some content for the radio.
is anyone available next saturday around 2 (or anytime next saturday)?
couple of other updates:
i'm not sure whether the radio is currently up, running, needs debugging,
etc. it appears that the studio is being overrun with weeds, so i intend to
do some cleaning there this week.
i also started writing documentation for using and troubleshooting the
radio - note to self to write that shit up!
finally, a few of us from oakland wiki met folks from youth radio and
toured their space. one of their people really likes sudo room and is going
to be bringing some of their youth who are working on coding to sudo. youth
radio has a glorious facility and their own clear channels of sharing any
content they produce, but i still feel like there must be some opportunity
to collaborate...any ideas?

Hey radio folks,
I was planning on coming to the space tonight but I have some work picking
up now, and don't have time to commit to the project:(
Good luck with the station.

Hey
I'm still here. I'm taking a sailing class all next week so I won't be
around.
Afterwards, I''m gonna try to come to the space on Tues nights and wrangle
somebody into doing an interview. I envision doing a live 5-15 min
interview with somebody about a project they are working on or a class they
are organizing. I will record it in Audacity and put together a short intro
and outro with voiceovers, and ultimately make a self contained piece that
can be looped in the stream.
Also, maybe we could loop other techy podcasts( Make mag..etc) in the
stream when there is nobody DJing.
Ideally, I think it would be cool for folks to be able to tune in at home
and listen to an interview about a sudo room workshop that their unfamiliar
with and/or can't physicaly attend.
Looking forward to working with everybody.

Hey all,
Hoping that Seth is reading this, as I made him join the list when he
stopped by at this past Wednesday meeting, stealthily. :)
Seth is interested in all things radio (he's built transmitters from kits
-- awesome, that's nontrivial soldering skill) but especially in running a
talk show.
Seth, there's a radio slot signup sheet somewhere -- (Marina, can you post
the link again?) -- You'll find you have the privilege of totally open
choice at the moment, since we're just now working things out.
Cheers,
Naomi

I wasn't sure what to expect after I was attacked last night, but it seems
I'm beset with random bouts of drowsiness. Plus I still haven't gotten all
the pepper spray off my body.

Info on the Dinner Benefit for FSRN in Berkeley (@5-7PM) on 4/21 towards bottom of email.
Including the fundraising pitch as well because of the useful relevant data on costs for scaled-up community radio.

> Free Speech Radio News (FSRN) is an award-winning US and international radio news program that broadcasts on nearly 100 stations across the country. FSRN prioritizes public-interest news that examines how social, political and economic decision-making affects people and communities. We report news from the ground level, seeking out local residents and marginalized communities to tell their own stories, whether struggling to overcome an injustice or creating solutions for a better society. We have contributing reporters in 30 states across the country and 50 countries around the globe, with a strong presence in Africa, the Middle East, South/Southeast Asia, and Central and South America.

As a reporter, I have not only been deeply humbled by the editorial staff's professionalism and high journalistic standards, but also their willingness to teach me new skills so that I can bring you more of the stories you need to hear.

These are the stories of our own communities, families and friends.

I have this thing about science talk radio shows: I love them.
I was thinking we could start filling time in the stream by syndicating
shows. Many are great, and many would gladly receive the added exposure,
however small.
