With 'okay to support' I meant, a company that we should support with our busine$$ because of their good reputation and philosophy.

Yes, currently the domains are on a high level platform (cPanel), but I would like to jump into a couple cheap droplets on DigitalOcean and see how it goes.
I expect this to be a more complex and slow process to accomplish, but it is okay with me.

Can you be more clear about what you mean by "okay to support"? And are
you asking for other VPS provider suggestions, or for a higher-level
website hosting platform?
As for registrars, I've been using Hover for quite a few years with
only one minor complaint (they don't support DNSSEC for .me domains, but
that's an admittedly very niche complaint). There was a discussion a few
months back on Hacker News about Gandi reneging on their free mailbox
perk post-buyout, with people sharing plenty of anecdotes about verious
registrars:
