Based on our new router research we are edging towards recommending the Xiaomi Redmi AC2100 as a replacement for the Western Digital My Net N600. The Redmi AC2100 costs around $40 shipped.
The major downsides so far seems to be that it requires a small exploit to flash it and that is only supported by OpenWRT Snapshot but hopefully that will change
