I like to build things. I prefer hacking and learning by doing rather than hearing a lot of excellent speaker talk. I'd rather be moving the movement than posturing to "lead a movement." I like passion. I don't see a lot of it lately. I see it at Sudo room more than I do at most places.

I used to live in Oakland and miss it very much.
When I lived in Oakland, I volunteered at the Rock Paper Scissors Collective http://rpscollective.org/ down the street. I helped clean up trash after First Fridays Art Murmur back when volunteers had to manage the security. It was not very fun doing security and telling angry hippie vendors we had to clear up the street or we would lose our art murmur license. It was not very fun picking up dirty beer and 40's in paper bags. Unfortunately those things have to be done.
It was more fun volunteering and doing the fun stuff like helping organize the Zine Library.
I would like to see Rock Paper Scissors Collective, Oakland youth, fun people who sew do more things with Sudo Room and build things. I would like to see more people have fun, especially if the people are from different social circles that wouldn't normally mix and it doesn't have to cost a lot of money.

I like a division between my pubilc and private life, and I do not come to Sudo room with the intention of talking too much business. It makes things healthier. Someone once told me that constantly networking and doing business in hacker spaces is unhealthy, like burning a candle at both ends. Sundays are for rest.

People like to talk a lot and get excited..

Lately as a late bloomer I've been getting into the outdoors through snowboarding, surfing, and bicycling (skateboarding not as much lately). I'm interested in finding ways to bring that world in a unique way, they are cool but they're sort of bro-ified sometimes, maybe we can do new things with these cultures.

Bestest Most Current Things

  • ProjectionMapping - thinking of doing light projection all around SudoRoom and combining this with augmented reality. Also adding games to the mix and bringing in more artists and game makers from around the SF Bay Area to sudoroom.

Philosophy

I go to hackerspaces to make things and hack. If I'm not hacking at a hackrrspace, I must ask myself, Why am I here?

Projects

Current Projects at SudoRoom

  • Animated Stuffed Animals that Move and Talk - Repurpose a bunch of stuffed animals that move and talk to greet people in the SudoRoom.
  • My Little Polo Pony 3D printed sets of cute pretty polo ponies to better understand concepts of watching a polo game (marking, blocking moves) without having played it (it takes several years to even begin to play and horses are pretty scary)

Older Projects

  • SudoKit Learning for everyone--not just kids but also old people, young people, even small animals!inspired by a cool collage teacher met at RPS Collective, the sudoroom hackers who like to teach, learning and animasl
  • GameHacking
  • Today_We_Learned - Oct 11, 2014 - Creating FUN Games with Open Source! Calendar link
  • ProjectionMapping - toying with the idea of doing some projection mapping using combinations of sculptures, cheap projectors combined with expensive projectors and 3D models, mannequins and sculptures
  • CircusArts - I'm starting a juggling group (self taught) and amateur circus arts group to the sudoroom and great omni. I don't have a lot of time but maybe we can make this happen!

Doge needs more projects!

SudoRoom: A Love Story (Game)
  • SudoRoom: A Love Story a visual novel game about a person that is... you! who comes to SudoRoom and discovers all the neat things you can do. You eventually learn how to save the world too!
  • ArtMakingParty event we put on after the Oakland First Friday
  • Super Focus Club SudoRoom is a hackerspace, a place created for hacking. Lately it's gotten very tough for hackers to actually hack here -- we're getting pulled to do publicity for outside companies, social work, and more instead of actually hacking. Let's get back to the basics.

I didn't study engineering at all. But during the MicroController Hack Night Hol and others helped me to get my basic FSR (force sensitive resistor) working. Every time I pressed the sensor with my fingers, the LED lit up. This can lead to all sorts of interesting projects!
The first time I came to SudoRoom I was warmly welcomed. I build my own Arduino and lit up the LED for the first time! It was a special moment
Sudo Room Characters (that is an ohm, not a lululemon logo. will change it =) )

Interests

I like to build things. I prefer hack nights and doing stuff to tech talks.
