Top Priorities

Most of all, we need more money! We also desperately need:

Big things:

  • Tools of all kinds
  • A laser cutter
  • A nice projector. 4000 lumens or more would be nice. Resolution less important.
  • High quality wifi access points like the Ubiquiti Unifi AP-PRO
  • Very tall ladder or scissor lift or similar.
  • A decent oscilloscope
  • A lab power supply
  • An industrial sewing machine or serger
  • A 16 extension PBX for POTS

Smaller things:

  • Tools of all kinds
  • Organizational systems/containers that fit on our shelves or walls
    • Come to the space and figure out what would be good
    • Anything from tiny spaces for electronics components to large drawers
  • A roll of CAT-6A ethernet cable
  • Duct tape and wide blue painter's tape
  • Long power strips / extension cables (3-prong only)
  • Better lighting! The current lighting is functional but depressing.

Medium Priorities

Infrastructure

  • large rice cooker
  • shop vac (another one, seriously, for the CNC!)

Everyday Stuff

  • trash bags
  • paper towels
  • toilet paper
  • sponges
  • dish soap & detergent
  • whiteboard markers & erasers

Tech Stuff

  • working laptops, desktops, macs, pcs, etc
  • non-bulky raw materials (actual wood, aluminium, steel, wiring)
  • electronics 'kits': altoids tins, heat sinks, relays, perf boards, infrared LEDs, ATiny chips, etc; for TV-B-Gones, Custom remote controls, Minty Boosts etc;
  • 3 Raspberry Pis w/ HD cameras for the Milliscope, the macroscope and the microsope
  • RGB LEDs (especially strips)
  • arduinos [old or new, all good!]
  • soldering irons (consider bringing one to donate for a workshop such as Workshop Weekend or Today I Learned.
  • laser cutter
  • RAM for Mac Mini (c. 2005) 333 MHz PC2700 DDR SDRAM Non-ECC Unbuffered
  • things that work, have useful parts or can be easily fixed

Low Priorities

Not urgent, but still accepted

  • hose adapter for generic sink faucet
  • relevant books

Not wanted

  • Most bulky raw materials (case by case basis)
  • Printers & scanners - they are bulky, we have enough
  • Broken, useless things

If you're not sure, you can contact Matt!

There are plenty of California e-waste facilities nearby.
