Yo everyone-

BART and Contra Costa Health Services just released an alert that
someone who was diagnosed with measles was riding BART between El
Cerrito Del Norte station and Downtown Berkeley stations, in the morning
between 8-10AM and in the afternoon/evening commute hours, between
Tuesday 04 February, and Friday 07 February.

Measles is transmissible through the air, and the virus can remain
active in the air for a couple of hours.

Measles symptoms include rash, fever, cough, runny nose, red and watery
eyes, tiny white spots inside the mouth, and general malaise. Symptoms
can begin 7 - 14 days after exposure.

If you've had your measles vaccine the likelihood of coming down with
measles is near zero. The person who was diagnosed was not vaccinated
and came into contact with measles while traveling overseas.
Anti-vaccine quackery such as the "autism scare" has led to an increase
in measles and whooping cough outbreaks in recent years.

If you or anyone you know was riding BART between 04 February and 07
February and comes down with those symptoms, particularly a rash on the
body or tiny white spots in the mouth, go to the hospital emergency room
immediately, and tell them you may have been exposed to measles and
you're having symptoms. Any case of measles is a public health
emergency so any such hospital visit should be free of charge.
