[sudo-discuss] Liberation Ministries Proposal to Omni Commons -- Matt recuses himself, seeks another delegate

Note: I'm not blocking this proposal, just lurking and reading whatever
comes across in email. These are some observations and suggestions for our
discussion.

A 3-month trial period seems like the right amount of time to see how
things will work out. 1 month is awfully short - it's over before you've
even figured out what's going on. 1 year is too long. In 3 months, we'll
get to see how successful they are at working with and recruiting in the
neighborhood, and we'll see who they attract to the Omni, and whether
having all the new neighborhood people is a net gain.

I saw the note about not wanting to fill the basement with video game
consoles. Are people opposed to just video games in general, violent video
games, or with them taking over the space? Or is the concern mainly around
having neighborhood kids hanging out and being disruptive?

Personally, I love video games and don't see a problem w/ an area where
people could hang out and enjoy some button-mashing competition, as long as
it's not causing problems for non-gamers.

Cheers,

Anca.
