[sudo-discuss] [omni-booking] FEB 19th in Ballroom: Musicians and DIY Electronics Swap Meet

Wow, thanks for getting on this so quickly!

So may I infer from the foregoing that we can do it on the 19th in the
ballroom? I just need to get back on the promotion pony as soon as
possible, first undoing the promotion I did from before 924 Gilman
pulled the rug out. I've updated the Facebook event page with your
location, but really need the big thumbs-up.

I really want to bring the hacker/maker people in this year, and doing
it in the Ballroom I think will be GREAT for that. Also, former music
venue, so there is still that synergy, also kinda full circle for me
because I was still employed by Nady when he lost the use permit the
first time around.

Jenny,

As for being interviewed about the early days of Nady's use of The Omni
as a venue (which started out great and turned crappy; I have some quite
insider insight on how that happened), I would love to, and I'm still in
touch with some former (and even current) employees who might be
interested in giving their insight as well. The former head sound guy
still lives in his apartment at the 1145 65th Street location, for
instance. Mr. Pete, who is a really sweet guy.

It was sad to watch the wonderfully eclectic bookings turn to
pay-for-play metal. I was there on the nights when Neil Young and Thomas
Dolby did tracking for possible inclusion on live albums, when Branford
Marsalis played, Red Hot Chili Peppers (pre-superstardom), Motorhead,
Blue Oyster Cult, Voice Farm; really a great mix of stuff.

So hoping to hear back soon. I am psyched! Hoping I can get on serious
promotion this weekend.

Cheers,
Erik
