I believe they are using one of standard bacterial 16S primer pairs, which
will typically not capture Archaea or Eukaryotes.

Nor will it capture any of the dozens of new Bacterial phyla in the newly
discovered Candidate Phyla Radiation, that have variant 16S sequences!
